Apple's CEO, Tim Cook confirmed that Apple will not use the LTE chipset for their production devices. This is probably a bit disappointing news for those who look forward to welcoming LTE features on the iPhone 5.
The presence of LTE features on the iPhone 5 that is suppose to be released in September. However, the next iPhone will support HSPA + network which they claim as the network "4G".
Currently in the United States alone there is only one device that supports LTE 4G network that is HTC Thunderbolt released by Verizon. The solution is a new generation of chips that combine support for the 4G and 3G on a single chip, allowing handset manufacturers to increase device efficiency. As a result, we likely will not see iPhone LTE to LTE chip efficiency improved.
